How do I place the watch?
Lay the watch dial up on a folded towel or mouse pad. Put the iPhone flat on the table with its bottom edge touching the crown, next to the microphone. Keep the watch away from the back of the phone: the magnets inside can magnetize it. Then don't touch either until the reading ends.
It can't hear my watch.
Move the crown closer to the bottom edge, or turn the watch a little. A few millimetres make a big difference. Turn off fans and music, and wind the watch fully. Some small or hand-wound watches tick very quietly; wired EarPods held against the crown, or a small contact microphone on a USB adapter, hear them much better.
My AirPods took the microphone.
When AirPods or another Bluetooth headset is connected, iOS may use its microphone instead of the iPhone's. Tockwise shows a warning; tap Use iPhone microphone, or disconnect the headset in Control Center.
What lift angle should I use?
Pick your calibre in the calibre table and Tockwise fills it in. Most modern Swiss and Japanese calibres use 50 to 53 degrees; if sources disagree, the table shows both. Lift angle only affects the amplitude figure, not the rate or beat error. If you don't know it, keep 52 degrees.
Why do readings differ between positions?
Gravity pulls on the balance differently in each position, so every mechanical watch runs at slightly different rates dial up, dial down and crown up, down, left or right. A spread of a few seconds per day is normal. The six-position test shows it in one report.
How do I restore my purchase?
Open Settings, tap Tockwise Pro, then Restore Purchases. Use the same Apple Account you bought Pro with. No account with Tockwise is needed. Pro is shared with your family through Family Sharing.
